We were excited to participate in this year’s Swartz Creek Art Fair! Love the local talent! Make sure you put this amazing event into your calendar for next year, August 27. The booths were filled with beautiful, handcrafted items that you will not find anywhere else! The people are incredible, and it was just simply a fun day to hang out, making new friends and new connections!

Exciting news! We will be doing our very first musical drama, this year, for the fundraiser dinner!
This musical will include all aspects our group – ballet, for choreography to the music; choirs and chorale, for singing; strings classes, for accompaniments; and CASO, for the full orchestra. I need volunteers from CCA to fill in several lead roles:
- 1 pure tenor voice,
- 3 baritones,
- 1 high, light soprano,
- 2 mezzo-sopranos, and
- 1 dramatic soprano.
The rest we will fill in with chorus members, etc. There will be lots of room for those who wish to be a part of the stage, but not in the singing capacity. For those people, simple choreography will be used. Art class members get to learn about stage design, make-up, and costumes and props – all of which will be minimal. Auditions will be on a determined date later in September. Only members of CCA or CASO will be permitted to participate in this musical. The title will be coming soon, but suffice it to say that it is a comedy musical! Let me know if you’re interested! I need lots of people who love to perform, as the lead roles will require a good amount of work. Regular rehearsals for the musical will begin in January, however, the music and scripts will be passed out immediately after auditions, so that you will have lots of time to prepare!
This year, not only do we have our first ever community orchestra, as well as a new website, we will also be doing something really adventurous with our fundraiser, this Spring! More coming on that, but suffice it to say that if you’ve ever wanted to be part of an amazing fine arts event, you will definitely want in on this!
Please make sure you come to the picnic on Saturday from 1-5. We will have lots of information there for you to help you plan your school year with the fine arts. We will also plan to have copies of our handbook, as well as our revised class schedule available for you to look over. Please contact Rachael Gregory if you plan to come. We are providing the hot dogs, so it will help us greatly if you could let us know so that we can better plan for how much meat we need to bring. Remember, it is a potluck!
