Ebony String Ensemble is an advanced strings group. It has grown into a six-member string ensemble that performs throughout the Genesee County area and serves at local community events. Ebony String Ensemble is open to new members by audition only. Students must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of technique and musicality. Ebony students are at or above a Suzuki 4 level and are able to perform a series of 3-octave scales with little to no difficulty and a variety of bowing techniques.
(Our group is for members only and by invitation. For group members, you may access the forum here.)
Our Ebony instructor is Mrs. Rachael Gregory. She has been teaching music for 24 years in a wide range of capacities including piano, voice, choir, violin, and orchestra. She studied music in college with a focus in piano, music theory, and voice. She has also studied with excellent string instructors here in the Genesee County area. Rachael’s goal for the Ebony String Ensemble is to take talented musicians and push them beyond their comfort zones. Ebony studies original works by some of the best small string ensemble composers.
Rachael has been married to her husband, Eric Gregory, for 16 years. Together, they have 5 musical children, all of which are studying music in one form or another. Rachael is a homeschooling mom and teaches private music lessons from her home.
