The Minuet String Ensemble is our beginner string class. Students in this class range from never having picked up an instrument to those just learning basic notes. Due to the fact that most of these students range in age from 4-7 years old, the class routine includes activity time, coloring, games, as well as basic string technique. Students learn as much from watching each other as they do with one-on-one work with the instructor. The Minuet String class students love their instructor, who also happens to be a student in the Ebony String Ensemble, and she loves them and works hard to keep her class busy and exciting.
Our Minuet instructor is Miss Laurie Gregory. She has been studying the violin since she was 3 years old, and has chosen the violin as her life career. She has performed with the Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has played for multiple special events, including weddings, banquets, funerals, graduations, and special holiday events. She is currently studying with an instructor from the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra. She is young, but is in training as a student teacher; as a result, she is under very close supervision from the executive director, as well as other instructors.
